A collaborative exhibition between artists Francisco Eme, Margaret Noble, Aren Skalman, and members of the Blind Community Center of San Diego. Feel the Noise is an exhibition comprised of collaborative projects exploring the ways those with visual impairments navigate the world around them. Relationships between the artists and BCCSD members were cultivated through time spent together while learning new skills and creating art, therein establishing the collaborative content for the exhibition. Projects documenting sounds from specific spaces and environments depict favorite memories and experiences of those shared by BCCSD members. Instruments hand-crafted from found objects amplify sound and rhythm throughout the exhibition space. A simulation of touch and sound-driven navigation through an unfamiliar environment is shared as a tool for exploring the concept of dissociative roaming.
