Centennial celebrations continue through August at the Spreckels Organ Society’s Centennial International Summer Organ Festival, a free, summer pipe organ extravaganza bringing world-class musicians to play each week, under the stars, on the historic Spreckels Organ in Balboa Park. Next Monday brings the always-popular Silent Movie Night featuring Scottish theatre organist Donald MacKenzie of London’s Odeon Theatre accompanying the hilarious silent film classic “For Heaven’s Sake” (1926), starring Harold Lloyd. The historic 1915 Spreckels Organ is the largest outdoor pipe organ in America and is soon to be the largest outdoor outdoor pipe organ in the world.
