Our Values

    • We work to advance the reputation of San Diego’s creative industries by producing quality arts journalism that inspires lifelong supporters of the visual, performing, and culinary arts.

    • We recognize that the visual, performing, and culinary arts have the unique ability to bring people together from diverse backgrounds, interests, and resources.

    • We believe that creative communities are inspired communities that serve as economic engines for the region.

    • We recognize the extraordinary inequities that centuries of systemic racism and injustice have caused for traditionally marginalized communities of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color.

    • We foster and maintain an environment where diversity and inclusion are valued and realized to the benefit of our CULTURAL COMMUNITY (cultural partners, clients, patrons, vendors, and the community at large.)

    • We are committed to elevating the voices of San Diego’s diverse body of creative professionals and providing a safe space for artists of color to create, innovate, and inspire. Inclusivity is how we live our commitment to fairness and diversity; and we celebrate the visible and invisible qualities that make each person unique.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT

We respectfully acknowledge that the land we inhabit here in Southern California and across the Mexico/US border is the traditional, ancestral, unceded territory of the Kumeyaay Nation. We extend our profound respect and gratitude to the Kumeyaay people who have lived in this region for more than 10,000 years and find inspiration in their traditions promoting balance and harmony within the land and the people who live upon it. We call upon arts leaders to publicly acknowledge the ancestral land of Native American communities in their region and to do their part to open up a dialogue and partnership that helps dismantle systematic and oppressive structures of colonialism that affect Native Americans to this day.
