An all-day event featuring performances by 22 choral groups and a massed choir of 1,000 voices, returns for the third time. San Diego Sings! Festival 2019, planned and presented by the Choral Consortium of San Diego, will feature 22 of the top choral groups in San Diego County performing by turn in a free concert, then joining together (more than 1,000 voices) to perform “The Gift of Singing” by living California composer Kirke Mechem, conducted by Dr. Arlie Langager, Chair of the MiraCosta College Music Department, and with the participation of Civic Organist Raul Prieto Ramirez. Each choir will have a 12-minute slot, and in addition to the massed choir sing, there will be two audience sing-along segments. Participating performers range from children’s choruses and barbershop groups to a Renaissance chorus, and from community choirs and women’s groups to a Chinese choral society.
