The show will include works from Lynn Schuette’s Stream Project. “Stream was a yearlong painting project that created 65 paintings for my 65th year. The title Stream is used inclusively, both the verb and the noun and its many definitions have personal resonance in my work. These paintings use layers of color and shifting forms and are rooted in the human body and nature.” In addition to her art practice Schuette is the founder and former executive director of Sushi Performance & Visual Art (1980-1995). She is recognized for introducing nationally-acclaimed performance and dance artists to the San Diego community including Karen Finley, Guillermo Gomez-Pena, Whoopi Goldberg, Rachel Rosenthal, Joe Goode Performance Group, and the Black Choreographers Moving Project. Schuette’s work has been shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions. Her work is also included in public, corporate, and private collections including the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego,City of San Diego Art Collection, the San Diego History Center.
