DEEPLY ROOTED explores stories of struggle, beauty and triumph. It is both a choreographic exploration in ritual and tradition and also a statement about integrity. Featuring guest artists – Junkyard Dance Crew and Minerva Tapia Dance Group with their own rituals, traditions plus how they interpret the title related to integrity allows for and brings in deeply more stylistic points of view of a shared theme. Percussionist Matthew Taylor highlights the “FRAME DRUM” throughout – an ancient percussion found in literally every original global culture – from Africa to the Mediterranean, Latin America, to contemporary iterations in current Western Culture.
