Now – 6/30: German Currents – Goethe On Demand

In cooperation with Filmgalerie 451, the Goethe-Institut has launched the free streaming program, GOETHE ON DEMAND. This curated selection of unique films from Filmgalerie 451 can be streamed through June 30, 2020 for free. All films are available in the original German version with English subtitles, but unfortunately, due to licensing restrictions, not all titles are available to be streamed in the USA. Films available for streaming in the USA include Angela Schanelec’s Afternoon (2006) and The Dreamed Path (2016), Sandra Prechtel’s documentary Roland Klick – The Heart is a Hungry Hunter (2013), Roland Klick’s cult classic Supermarkt (1974), and short film Ludwig (1964), Christoph Schlingensief’s Die 120 Tage von Bottrop (1997) and Chance 2000 – Abschied von Deutschland (1998), Paul Poet’s Ausländer Raus! Schlingensief’s Container (2002), and Frieder Schlaich’s Christoph Schlingesief und Seine Filme (2004). Additional selections from filmmakers Irene von Alberti, Frieder Schlaich, Max Linz, and Henning Beckhoff, Heinz Emigholz, and Elfi Mikesch complete the program of films available for streaming in the USA.
