Original work by Viveka Heino (June 27,1910 – September 1, 1995) and Otto Heino (April 20, 1915 – July 16, 2009), a husband-and-wife team of ceramicists for over 35 years.
Their work is distinguished by clean lines and distinctive glazes and, despite getting disparaged by the Great Depression, the Heinos supported themselves as potters throughout their careers. Unfazed by ceramic trends, the Heinos remained true to their sense of what pottery should be—traditional and utilitarian.
“What you give away you have forever; what you keep to yourself, you lose” – Vivika Heino.
The Heinos were awarded a Gold Medal from the Biennale internationale de céramique d’art, in Vallauris, France (1978).
Exhibitions located in New York, San Francisco, Boston, Washington DC, and Vallauris, France.
