San Diego, CA 92101
Opening Reception:
December 19, 2015
12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
The San Diego Public Library presents Significant Others, an exhibition of eight San Diego artists making up four artist couples. Significant Others does not focus on the narrative biographies of the artists on exhibit other than to note the inescapable cohesive link between them: marriage. Although their identities are connected through this common thread, the opportunity exists for the creation of artworks that are as diverse as their relationship dynamics. While some couples choose to work as collaborators, others pursue distinctly independent artistic practices and aesthetics. Regardless of working similarities or differences, these partnerships result in daily reminders that life and art are integral to each other. Curated by Kara West, the Library’s Arts and Culture Exhibition Manager, featured artist include Jean Lowe and Kim MacConnel; Jessica McCambly and John Oliver Lewis; Debby and Larry Kline; and Anna O’Cain and Richard Keely. On view through February 28, 2016. A reception is planned on opening day from 12 to 2 p.m. Both the reception and exhibition are open to the public and admission is free.
