Bayside Summer Nights Kicks Off

San Diego boasts seaside sights and wonderful weather and the two become magical when witnessed alongside the San Diego Symphony. July has begun and with it comes the spectacular Bayside Summer Nights. The Embarcadero Marina is transformed from now through August with special concerts under the stars. This year, the San Diego Symphony will also be hosting a fun new weekly event: Flamingo Fridays. GODFATHERS OF LATIN JAZZ: A SALUTE TO DIZZY GILLESPIE AND CHANO POZO
In 1947 jazzmaster Dizzy Gillespie invited Cuban conguero Chano Pozo to participate in the Carnegie Hall concert (and subsequent European tour) that launched the modern Latin Jazz movement worldwide. This program celebrates that key collaboration and features some of today’s most exciting jazz musicians. Our special guests are jazz trumpeter Jon Faddis, tenor saxophonist Justo Almario and the KSDS Jazz Orchestra under the direction of San Diego’s Gilbert Castellanos!
