The Foodie Soirée – Frequently Asked Questions

The Foodie Soirée
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do I have to be a professional in the visual, performing or culinary arts to attend?

Yes. Foodie Soirées are designed as intimate networking opportunities for San Diego’s creative community. Our exclusive list is comprised of over 500 museum professionals, writers, gallerists, musicians, theatre folks, fashion industry peeps, visual artists, dancers, photographers, and culinary professionals. Each event is limited to the first 50 people to RSVP – creating the perfect environment for great networking and creative collaboration.

Where are these events held?

Foodie Soirées are held in private homes of artists, art collectors, and arts patrons with unique spaces. If you would like to share your unique home or venue for the next Foodie Soirée and can accommodate 50 people in your space please contact Susanna at [email protected].

What can I expect to see at a Foodie Soirée?

Foodie Soirées feature amazing food and drink, cutting-edge art installations; live performances by the region’s best dancers, musicians, singers and actors; tours of private art collections; chef demonstrations; and more.

How much does it cost to attend?

$10.00 Suggested Donation. All guests are asked to bring a culinary creation or fine beverage to share with the group. (In some instances we create “mash-up” events in which the food is provided. These may include Chef Showdowns or Artist/Chef Pairings. The cost for our mash-up events range from $25.00 – $35.00.)

What is the money used for?

Proceeds go to the Vanguard Culture Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to the advancement of the visual, performing, and culinary arts. Click HERE to learn more.

What kind of food should I bring?

Each guest is asked to bring a culinary creation to share. This is not a potluck. It is an exploration of the senses – and we mean that in the most unpretentious way possible. Foodie Soirées are the place to experiment with something new, or share a favorite recipe that is tried and true. The kitchen will be available for those who would like to prepare their dish on site (highly encouraged). If you are not ready to jump into the cooking side of the equation please bring a nice bottle of wine or other fine beverage to share with the group.

How much food should I bring?

There will be approximately 50 people in attendance. Each guest should bring enough for at least 12 people to taste your dish. Bite size portions are best. Please use masking (painters) tape to label the underside of any dishware you would like returned to you.

How is the food served?

We will provide paper plates, basic utensils, cups, napkins etc. Please bring all necessary serving dishes and utensils that will allow for easy serving / tasting of your dish. Nice presentation is encouraged. Please also bring a small card describing what is in your dish to inform any guests with food allergies.

How should I dress?

Cocktail or Artsy attire requested.

What happens if I RSVP YES and change my mind or can no longer attend?

Due to the exclusivity of these events we have a very strict attendance policy. Anyone who RSVPs YES and is a NO-SHOW will be removed from the list for future events. If you RSVP YES and can no longer attend please have the courtesy to release your ticket so that it can be opened up to someone on the Waiting List.
