The Bold, the Beautiful & the Brilliantly Weird
25th Annual Paper Theatre Festival
July 14 – September 27

Tiny stages tell big stories at the 25th Annual Paper Theatre Festival Exhibition, on view July 14–September 27, 2026 at Geisel Library on the UC San Diego campus during the building’s open hours. Celebrating its 25th anniversary, this beloved exhibition showcases an imaginative collection of handcrafted paper theatres created by students, artists, alumni, staff, and community members, honoring a Victorian-era storytelling tradition that continues to inspire new generations. As the oldest continually running paper theatre festival in the United States, the exhibition transforms miniature sets, paper characters, and intricate scenes into whimsical works of art that celebrate creativity, craftsmanship, and the enduring magic of live theatre in miniature. Admission is free, and visitors are encouraged to explore the colorful display throughout the summer.
