The ninth annual Medium Festival of Photography presents a 10-day virtual and in-person celebration of art, artists, and exhibitions reflecting global trends in photography. The 2021 Festival highlights photojournalists covering the Jan. 6 insurrection in Washington D.C., artists working with a studio and performance based practices, immigrants exploring cultural identity, and members of the LGBTQ community examining the fluid nature of gender through visual art. The 2021 Medium Festival will be held virtually with a program that includes its familiar and acclaimed artist lecture series, as well as workshops and partner programs that will inspire your practice and engagement with photography. Celebrated for her portraits of the LGBTQ community, Los Angeles based artist Catherine Opie will bring a full day of programming, virtually with outdoor simulcasts in San Diego and Escondido on March 6, 2021. Opie shares a rich overview of her acclaimed career in photography documenting a wide range of American people, landscapes, and celebrity icons.
