2020 Brain Candy: A Virtual Salon Series – The Curators
Vanguard Culture is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to advancing San Diego’s Creative Industry workforce. If you support our mission please consider making a monetary gift of any amount below.
Inspired by the French salons of the early 18th century, Brain Candy is a contemporary take on this Enlightenment-era institution which provided a safe place for women and men to congregate for intellectual discourse. For this edition of Brain Candy, we bring together some of the region’s most dynamic curators as they gather virtually to discuss their approach to the curatorial craft, how they are addressing the new limitations of the pandemic, and the evolving role of storytelling as we consider exhibitions in the future.
As a nonprofit that works to advance San Diego’s visual, performing, and culinary arts community, we also provided guests with the opportunity to purchase artfully-crafted boxed treats from our friends at Sugar & Scribe. 100% of the proceeds from these boxed sets supporter their restaurant during this uncertain time.
This event is part of Vanguard Culture’s FORUM Professional Development series designed to support San Diego’s Creative Industries. Our programs range from workshops, to panel discussions, to networking opportunities and are designed to educate participants on the business behind their industry. Participants not only make valuable connections with other creatives, they are also provided with tools, tips, and tricks to help them make a living doing what they love. The FORUM is made possible thanks to our generous Professional Development Sponsor Jack Lampl.
Vanguard Culture is an online media entity designed for culturally savvy, socially conscious individuals.
We provide original interviews and reviews of the people, places, and events that make up San Diego’s thriving arts and culture community, as well as curated snapshots of the week’s best, most inspiring and unique cultural and culinary events.
We believe in making a difference in the world, supporting San Diego’s vibrant visual and performing arts community and bringing awareness to important social and community causes.
