On October 17, the PGK Dance Project will combine the immersive with the virtual for INSIDE / OUT, to kick off their fall season.
“I realize, to many people, that the world seems inside out at the moment,” said Peter G. Kalivas, “but that is what my company has been determined to do ever since our inception: take dance from ‘inside out’ to the people where it belongs, in ways that make it more affordable and easier to access. This immersive virtual experience will take place in familiar spaces and places, and will include moments where we can dance together.”
Audiences can enjoy this show from the safety of their homes, an element of performing arts that we have had to adjust for this year. The evening will begin with a Zoom-conducted “ice breaker” to connect the audience members with each other, with Kalivas and with the performers.
PGK’s mission is to bring a variety of dance styles to a broader audience, typically opting for non-conventional arenas for their shows. This year, the company has pivoted extraordinarily well–making the most out of Zoom technologies and personal quarters.
Following INSIDE / OUT, PGK’s fall season will continue with a live performance of Ollin at the Palm Springs International Dance Festival–a performance which will take place outdoors. On November 5 through November 8, PERSPECTIVES will be exhibited on the front façade windows of ArtProduce. Live performances of both will take place on November 8 during ARTWALK Little Italy.
