DATE SET FOR ENVZN24: IMMERSIVE AND ENGAGING ‘URBAN ART TAKEOVER’ OF LOGAN HEIGHTS

SAN DIEGO, CA (April 30, 2024) The date is set for Vanguard Culture’s second annual ENVZN24 Urban Art Takeover. The biennial visual and performing arts festival will transform areas of Commercial Street in Logan Heights with immersive and interactive art experiences on Saturday, September 14, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. The full list of artists and performers will be released on May 22.

ENVZN24 Urban Art Takeover is a one-of-a-kind visual & performing arts festival that will transform urban areas of the Commercial Street corridor in Logan Heights with multi-sensory art interventions by creatives from both sides of the U.S./Mexico border. The ENVZN24 hub will be located at The Soap Factory at 2995 Commercial St, San Diego, CA.

Enjoy live dance, large-scale puppetry, theatre and musical performances, a fashion show by Fashion Week San Diego, art installations with curated soundscapes, a mini film festival, delicious food and drink by local vendors, and much more — all by creatives from both sides of the US/Mexico border. Building on the success of the inaugural event last fall, programming will now be presented in daytime and evening sessions. “By programming two sessions, we are able to increase the amount of activities as well as present more family-friendly work in the daytime,” explained Vanguard Culture Founder and Executive Director Susanna Peredo Swap.

A food truck court has been added for festival goers to enjoy while experiencing the wide variety of bi-national presentations.

“The cultural and creative diversity of our line-up reflects our mission to celebrate arts & culture from every industry across this unique border region. We are very pleased to align with this year’s World Design Capital San Diego Tijuana 2024 celebration and to have been selected as an official Community Initiative of the WDC program,” stated Peredo Swap.

The ENVZN festival has also aligned with the Estate of Jean-Michel Basquiat © as a lead sponsor. In honor of the genius of Basquiat’s creative legacy and social justice activism, Vanguard Culture is dedicating a majority of the funds raised at their An Artist @ the Table Gala on May 18th towards the hiring of artists of color for the ENVZN Urban Art Takeover, making the festival financially accessible to residents of the Logan Heights community and free for children under 12. A majority of the ticket fee serves as a tax-deductible donation to Vanguard Culture, a 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to advancing San Diego’s creative workforce.
