San Diego Symphony gives a ‘taste’ of its upcoming season

The San Diego Symphony orchestra hosted a concert to welcome April and, preview a bit of the 2015-2016 season. ‘Tastings’ the one hour musical sampling was a creative and fun way to not only welcome patrons and subscribers, but new audiences as well. The dynamic was ‘come as you are, pay as you wish’. Having the opportunity to watch this amazing concert for free, the lines at the Jacobs Music Center, where long and full. People had no problem donating to this wonderful cause, making an important difference. Pieces included Carmina Burana!, Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue and Symphonie Fantastique! Among various others.

The fun will start in May and there are great deals to take advantage of! Like 16 concerts for the price of 13, and 8 for the price of 6. For more info please check out sandiegosymphony.com . There are deals for Midori and Carmina Burana when subscribing by April 30th.

 

The Godfather!

Mafia costume party, film and live score! The San Diego Symphony Orchestra will perform the 1972 film score while it’s being projected. There will be a pre-film costume party with a contest and prizes as well as casino gambling. This Friday April 24th starting at 5:30pm. For more info, contact Malina Baker at 619-615-3906.

 

Summer pops!

Highlights Include LeAnn Rimes, Ben Folds, Burt Bacharach, Esperanza Spalding and Jason Alexander. One of San Diego’s most exciting, time-honored and musical summer traditions. The Summer Pops takes place each year at Embarcadero Marina Park South, one of the most picturesque spots in all of San Diego—perhaps in the entire country. Running from Fourth of July Weekend through Labor Day Weekend with a special Tux ‘n Tennies kick-off event saluting the Beach Boys that gets the Summer Pops wave rolling. There are fireworks at the conclusion of all concerts on Friday and Saturday nights—and on Friday, Saturday and Sunday on the Fourth of July and Labor Day Weekends.
