SDYS invites the public to celebrate this milestone at a festive event that combines live music, memories from an unforgettable international tour and a historic exhibit of four youth arts organizations. Featuring a selection of chamber music performances by talented SDYS faculty, alumni and students, representing various eras in their 70 year history. Includes a premiere of the documentary film from the youth symphony’s 70th Anniversary China Tour this summer 2015. Guests will also be able to browse the “Youth in Arts Exhibit,” which highlights 70 years of youth arts activity in Balboa Park. Over the last 7 decades, SDYS has provided thousands of students the opportunity to study and perform classical repertoire at a highly advanced level. It is the sixth oldest continuously operating youth orchestra in the United States and the resident youth orchestra in the City of San Diego’s historic Balboa Park.
