May 11, 2019
Presented by Gilbert Castellanos in partnership with Vanguard Culture, on May 11th, 2019 local jazz icon Gilbert Castellanos and Americana musicians “The Midnight Pine” stepped out of their comfort zone and onto the edge of something new.
Guests experienced an incredible musical collaboration between two multi-San Diego Music Award winners from opposite musical genres. There is no way to truly capture the magic that occurred that night but here’s a snippet for those who didn’t have the opportunity to experience it in person!
The evening also included delicious gourmet bites by Chef Daniella de la Puente; craft cocktails and tequila tastings featuring CaliFino Tequila; beer tastings by Cerveza Colibre; and VIP wine tastings by Baja Wine + Food.
Art shows on view during Barrio Art Crawl included a pop-up “Art Meets Jazz” exhibit curated by Arlene Damasco in the performance hall; “War Paint” by Lynn Schuette at Bread & Salt Gallery; and IDENTITY I ANTIQUITY by Alessandra Moctezuma & Hilary Paul McGuire at the Athenaeum Music & Arts Library gallery Inside the building.
