Placed in a modern setting, Julius Caesar mirrors the divisive events of the recent election and its aftermath on January 6th. It is play about the destructive influence of mob manipulation, inner conflict, blind loyalty to the cult of personality, and the moral consequences of choosing violence to achieve political ends. These themes are brought to life through the poetry of Shakespeare’s language which is, as always, beautiful and timeless.
