Many people encounter those living on the street and look away.
They pass by. They do not see.
“They are treated as if they are not there. Actively making them invisible.”
This exhibition asks something simple—and profound:
to look.
For nearly two decades, Neil Shigley has created large-scale portraits of individuals experiencing homelessness—work that has evolved from artistic study into an act of witnessing.
“I was initially drawn to the incredible character that these people possess… Nobility, beauty, strength, vulnerability—they are all there if we only look.”
Each portrait is more than an image.
It is a presence.
A life.
A story beyond statistics.
Through Invisible People and the national Invisible Nation project, the artist seeks to “humanize this vulnerable population… elevate public awareness, foster empathy, and inspire action.”
At its core, the work is grounded in a simple belief:
“Visibility is the first step toward equality… and art, when rooted in humanity, can inspire meaningful action.”
We invite you to pause. Look closely.
