TPG2 features a vibrant and eclectic mix of eye-catching artwork in the current exhibition, ATTN: To Detail. The exhibit, currently on display until September 15, 2014 at the gallery space located inside of the Bamboo Lounge in Hillcrest, features the work of 13 artistic visionaries.
The breadth of their artwork ranges from graphite and watercolor to photography, ceramics and mixed media. The unifying theme within the diverse body of work is unquestionably the amount of precision that is evident within each piece. All of the 53 pieces on display showcase with detailed intricacy the artist’s passion and skill for their craft. Artwork that from a distance embodies a delicate simplicity reveals subtle yet ornate complexity as one draws closer. The stunning detail present throughout the show allows for viewers to embark on a journey of constant discovery as they visually peel back the layers of each piece.
Gallery owners Johnny Tran and Paul Ecdao created Thumbprint Gallery five years ago this September to showcase the work of contemporary urban artists. Through their vision and collaboration Tran, a former DJ and Event Promoter and Ecdao, a Visual Artist, opened the first two Thumbprint Galleries in North Park, which eventually moved to its current location in La Jolla. The newest gallery space, named TPG2, opened in Hillcrest last November. Both gallery spaces feature a monthly opening reception that highlights surrealism, and pop art, in addition to contemporary urban art. Both gallery spaces continue to attract an audience of artists, art lovers and patrons from diverse walks of life.
Tran describes Thumbprint Gallery as a “fun and expressive space that creates community.” ATTN: To Detail is certainly a stand out exhibit that is engaging the San Diego community, while making its mark on the world of visual art.
Admission to ATTN: To Detail is free and can be viewed Tuesday-Friday from 4pm-9pm and Saturday-Sunday from 10am-5pm. To learn more about Thumbprint Gallery and TPG2 visit www.ThumbprintGallerySD.com and www.TPG2.net
