Mission Federal ArtWalk – Annual Reveal of 2015 Featured Artists
Article by Anna Robert
On February 4, 2015 Mission Federal ArtWalk held its Annual Reveal of 2015 Featured Artists at the beautiful Westgate Hotel. These artists along with hundreds of others will present their works in Little Italy on April 24 and 25, 2015. Attendees got to preview some of the paintings, ceramics, and jewelry chosen by the jury for their uniqueness – in style, in technique, in point of view.
For 31 years this ArtWalk has been one of the most celebrated art events not only in San Diego, but in Southern California in general. This year the Festival will fill 17 blocks in the Little Italy neighborhood that will accommodate works of more than 300 participating artists. The guests will be able to enjoy food, music, dance, and some hands-on art activities. Artists will have an opportunity to show and sell their artworks to the public.
However, for some artists this event is much more than that. Hong Rubinstein, whose one of a kind sculptural art ceramics drew everyone’s attention at the event, says: “I’d like to meet a lot of interesting people introduce them to my artwork. Hopefully, it will give them happiness too… Ideally, I would like that when people see my work, they can experience physical manifestation of the joy and love involved in its creation.” Hong creates distinctive glazed vessels that one can contemplate at the Palm Springs Art Museum, in various art galleries of Los Angeles and also at various art shows and festivals in Southern California.
This year’s ArtWalk theme is “Discover your inspiration” and this call is addressed mainly to the public. Just for a moment think – what piece of art has inspired you the most in the last couple of years? Maybe, you haven’t experienced it yet. Perhaps, this event in Little Italy is your chance to get inspired, to explore and embrace the most contemporary art achievements. For more information visit http://www.artwalksandiego.org/.
