San Diego Mesa College Art Gallery presents “Heavy Duty II: A Steamroller Printmaking Event” – Giant 3’x 4’ fabric prints will be printed on site using a steamroller. In the first iteration of the project in 2021, the gallery director Alessandra Moctezuma, invited sixteen professional printmakers to carve a relief woodcut on a piece of ¾”plywood. The wood reliefs were then inked and fabric was stretched on top. As the steamroller drove over the plates the designs and images were permanently transferred onto the fabric and the result were stunning large-scale black-and-white images. This iteration will feature San Diego artists Jenny Armer, Andrew Alcasid, Rachel Droessler, Debby and Larry Kline, Chris Lahti and Chris Padilla. Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind artmaking activity.
