Baja Wine + Food in collaboration with Vanguard Culture brings a unique opportunity to meet the masterminds behind world-renowned wineries from the Valle de Guadalupe. Taste and learn more about Valle de Guadalupe wines while enjoying the stunning San Diego skyline from IDEA1 Apartments’ exclusive rooftop. The wine tasting experience will be accompanied by local Baja cheeses and charcuterie boards.

Each workshop in this 3-part “Arts Law” series, organized with the California Lawyers for the Arts, will be comprised of a 35 min presentation followed by 20 min of Q&A with attorneys in a wide range of topics including Branding and Trademarks/ Copyright and Intellectual Property / How to set up your organization as a nonprofit, LLC, etc., and changes in tax laws that affect creative industries.
Presented by Vanguard Culture, The FORUM is a professional development series for creatives from the visual, performing and culinary arts. From workshops, to lectures, to panel discussions and meaningful networking, this series provides industry professionals with the tools, resources, and opportunities to become better at their craft and to make a living doing the thing they love.

If you are an inspiring creative person living in the San Diego region and you are in need of business development assistance so that you can advance in your career, then these workshops are for you. Conceived in partnership with Vanguard Culture, a 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to advancing San Diego’s creative industries.
The Not-So-Silent Short Film Fest: – Join fellow cinephiles for three interactive evenings of silent short films curated by award-winning multi-media curator and soundscape artist Scott Paulson. Paulson will present lively screenings of silent classics with his band, the Teeny-Tiny Pit Orchestra. Audiences are encouraged to grab sound makers ranging from exotic wooden bird calls, to giant thunder-sheets, to old-school car horns to help underscore the films. Featuring craft cocktails and delicious gourmet popcorn varieties by our Culinary Director Chef Daniella de la Puente. $15.00 includes 1 bag of popcorn + 1 drink.

SAT 8/24 – Film to Table Italiano – Presented in partnership with the San Diego Italian Film Festival, this event features curated, food-centric film shorts and delicious food from some of San Diego’s best Italian Chefs. $15-$30. Pre-show industry mixer featuring music by DJ Masha

SAT. 9/21: The Nineties. $25-$40 (Rise of Multiculturalism/ Grunge Movement / Raves / the World Wide Web / End of the Cold War) Program partners include Sparks Gallery, Baja Wine + Food, and Cerveza Colibre.
SAT. 10/12 – SLOW. CHOP. IGNITE. This choreographer / chef competition tasks competitors with using the same 5 culinary terms as prompt ingredients for their dance or appetizer. The event will include a pop-up art show by bi-national photographer Josue Castro of The Kitchen Project TJ, featuring compelling portraits of chefs and dancers. Chefs win cash prizes as well as industry related opportunities including a paid choreographic commission by the PGK Dance Project. $25-$40. Tickets include access to 6 chef stations, 1 craft cocktail, & pre-show industry mixer with music by DJ Masha.

SAT. 11/2: The Future. $40-$80 This culminating event of the series will present a hopeful visioning of catalytic moments in the future of art, fashion, music, pop culture that would change the world for the better. Guests are encouraged to dress in high fashion of the future (Avant-Garde). Collateral Collective, a new online platform designed to introduce artists and patrons to one another for creative and transactional connections, will present two pop-up art shows featuring dozens of local artists involved in the collective. Events will include live music and dance performances,craft cocktails, open studio and multimedia experiences. 6pm-9pm.
