PHOTO COLLAGE | INTIMATE | ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT | LARGE SCALE PROJECTION | SOUNDSCAPE
This Feels Like Wildfire is a large-scale video art installation featuring original works by Hayley Thomas. Thomas is a queer emerging artist based in San Diego, CA who utilizes analog collage in order to navigate human experience and emotions. Her work invites the viewer to engage with metaphorical ‘mirrors’ and portraits of the human experience in her collage narratives. Her work is solely made from found and physical materials. This process allows her to create sustainably, but also foster works which not only address human experience in subject matter, but also in physical composition: each piece of paper has influenced multiple people throughout its life. This video art installation is a commentary about climate change, focusing on the wildfires which have been especially devastating for all those who call California home. The installation addresses the shared experience of witnessing, reckoning and fighting against climate change. Featuring original soundscape by MALU.
